Biographies – Pavilion Global Markets

Michael Avedesian

Director, Global Markets Sales
Since 1996, Mr. Avedesian has held several positions within the Capital Markets division, working in North American and International Settlements, as a Sales Trader on the North American, Asian and European desks, and Manager of the trading team. In his current role, he leads the international sales effort for the company’s global equity execution services and the Global Macro Research product. He is also responsible for managing the 24-hour global trading team. Prior to joining PGM, Mr. Avedesian worked for Pegasus Marketing in Montreal. He is a graduate of Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, with a Bachelor’s degree in economics.


Stuart Bailey

Global Macro Analyst
With a quantitative background and experience in futures trading, Mr. Bailey contributes to the production of PGM’s flagship Global Strategy Note. Prior to joining PGM, he worked for Natcan Investment Management and National Bank Financial as a Quantitative Analyst, followed by proprietary trading positions at OSTC Ltd. and FCL Trade, specializing in global interest rate futures markets. Mr. Bailey earned a B.Sc. Specialization Mathematical and Computational Finance from Concordia University.


Patrick Belland, CFA®

President & Managing Director
Mr. Belland is a seasoned investment professional with 20 years’ experience in sales and business development. He joined the company (formerly Brockhouse Cooper) in 1992 and has helped grow the securities trading division to more than $50 billion traded annually today. In 1997, Mr. Belland was involved in the establishment of the company’s early efforts to establish a U.S. office and supported the pension consulting sales effort in the region. He also worked closely with Brockhouse Cooper South Africa, an affiliated company, influencing the structure and operations of both securities trading and transition management, as well as training staff. In 2002, Mr. Belland developed a business relationship in Japan with an asset management firm that today leverages the firm’s manager research into the Japanese pension market. Mr. Belland holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from McGill University and is a CFA® charterholder.


Brian R. Berg

Managing Director, Transition Management U.S
Boston, MA
With over 15 years of experience in the investment industry, Mr. Berg is dedicated to expanding PGM’s transition management services among U.S. plan sponsors, Taft-Hartley’s, endowments, foundations, financial institutions and the investment consultant community. He has a proven track record of helping clients lower their overall transaction costs while minimizing their risk exposure. Prior to PGM, Mr. Berg was with BNY Mellon’s Transition and Beta Management group, serving as the Branch Manager of the Boston Registered Investment Advisor. Mr. Berg also worked with State Street Bank and Trust in Boston where he marketed transition management products and services. Additionally he worked with Investment Technology Group (ITG) and Bloomberg, LP in senior sales positions. Mr. Berg has been a key speaker on various public and corporate plan sponsor panels on subjects ranging from transition and risk management to best execution strategies. He received his Bachelors of Science in Finance from Villanova University and currently holds his series 3, 7, 30, and 63 licenses. He currently serves as one of the co-chairs for Villanova’s New England Scholarship committee.


Mario Choueiri, CFA®, FRM

Head, Transition Management
As Head, Transition Management, Mr. Choueiri oversees a team of project managers responsible for assisting clients with the liquidation and funding of one or more portfolios as a result of a change in investment manager or a shift in asset allocation. Prior to joining PGM in 2006, Mr. Choueiri worked as a lawyer and portfolio manager for a charitable foundation. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from McGill University in 1995 and with a Master of Business Administration from HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) Montréal in 2000. He is a CFA® charterholder and awarded the FRM designation in 2011. Mr. Choueiri has completed his IIROC licensing examinations as well as the FINRA Series 37 exam.


Jeffy Chui

Sales & Trading – Europe
Mr. Chui is on the European sales and trading team and helps cover on the Asia Pacific team. He works with the team and clients to provide best execution on equities trading. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Mr. Chui was a trader on the high value client and active trader platform team at TD Waterhouse discount brokerage. He holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from McGill University.


Robert Dardzinski

Sales & Trading – Europe
As an equity sales trader on the European desk, Mr. Dardzinski provides best execution trading services for clients. He also participates in business development, seeking out new and maintaining existing business relationships. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in market risk for JitneyTrade in Montreal and for VTB Capital in London on its credit trading desk. Mr. Dardzinski holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from McGill University in Montreal and a Master’s degree with distinction in International Business from the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in Grenoble, France.


L’Emir Raafat El-Ayoubi

Quantitative Macro Analyst
In his role, Mr. El-Ayoubi builds quantitative models related to the global economy and the financial markets. He also contributes to the flagship Global Strategy Note. Prior to joining PGM, Mr. El-Ayoubi worked at AGF Group where he was responsible for building forecasting models and doing quantitative analyses. At Université de Montréal where he earned his Bachelor (Honor orientation) and Masters of Science degree (with Distinction) in Economics, he was a teacher’s assistant for the econometrics and the macroeconomic courses.


Aidan Garrib

Head, Global Macro Strategy & Research
Mr. Garrib leads the team responsible for producing global macro research, focusing on currencies, interest rates, equity indices and commodities. He works closely with PGM clients, presenting economic analysis and original global macro investment ideas. He has deep experience in financial markets, global macro strategy and credit analysis. He is on the lookout for emerging macro trends and finds actionable investment ideas to exploit them. Prior to PGM, Mr. Garrib directed the country allocation strategy for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). He also worked on CIBC’s trading floor in London, England. Mr. Garrib holds an undergraduate and a Master’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Master’s of Finance degree from Queen’s University.


Jonathan Koscielniak

Settlements & Trade Operations Analyst – Americas
As a Settlement and Trade Operations Analyst, Mr. Koscielniak works closely with clients and clearing firms  to ensure the timely settlement of Canadian, U.S. and South American trades.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Koscielniak worked at TD bank as a financial service representative where he advised clients on their investment strategies to ensure proper portfolio allocations.  Mr. Koscielniak holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree from Concordia University and is currently a CFA® Level II candidate.


Claude Lamoureux

Sales & Trading – Europe
Mr. Lamoureux has been working with Pavilion Global Markets since 2006. Currently conducting sales and trading on the euro desk, he has also traded equities and foreign exchange for clients based in North America and Europe.

 


Etienne Ménard

Project Manager, Transition Management
Mr. Ménard has over 18 years of equity and equity derivatives experience as a trader and portfolio manager in Europe, Asia and Canada. Prior to joining PGM, Mr. Ménard worked at Jitneytrade, Newedge, Pictet and BNP Paribas. He graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Finance in 1996 and Masters of Science in Business (Finance) in 2004, both from HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) Montréal.  He completed his IIROC licensing examinations as well as the FINRA Series 3, 7, 63 and 55 exams.


Michael Mollemans, PhD, CFA®, CMT

Head of Global Market Structure & Analytics
Michael Mollemans is Head of Global Market Structure & Analytics at Pavilion Global Markets and has over 20 years of experience in equity trading and research. Previously, he was Head of Sales Trading Asia Pacific at Pavilion Global Markets, Head of Electronic Trading at Credit Suisse Securities Japan, and Head of Electronic Trading Sales at Daiwa Capital Markets America. He started his career as a research analyst in the investment banking division at the Development Bank of Singapore working in Singapore and Bangkok. He has a PhD in Econometrics from Macquarie University, is a CFA® charterholder and a CMT charterholder.


Kyle Pedvis

Sales & Trading – Americas
Mr. Pedvis joined Pavilion Global Markets in November 2016 as a Settlement and Trade Operations Analyst. He is tasked with working with clients and clearing firms to ensure the timely settlement of Canadian, U.S. and South American trades. Prior to joining PGM, Mr. Pedvis received his B.A. in Industrial Relations from McGill University while also minoring in Business Management.


Jamieson Ritchie, CFA®

Senior Sales Trader, Americas & Supervisor of Trading Operations
Since joining the securities trading desk in 1995, Mr. Ritchie has worked in settlements, international and domestic equity trading, and equity sales. In 1997 he was appointed Head of North American Equity Trading and in 2005 became Head of Global Equity Trading. In 2005, he also became a Director of the firm. Mr. Ritchie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from McGill University and a CFA® charterholder.


Sharif Shukr, CFA®, FRM

Project Manager,
Prior to joining PGM, Mr. Shukr worked as a global equity trader at bcIMC and Presima, as well as starting his career in various operational roles at State Street Global Advisors and National Bank Financial. He graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce from Concordia University in 2003 and a Graduate Diploma in Finance from McGill University in 2005. He was awarded the FRM designation in 2010 and the CFA® designation in 2012. Mr. Shukr has completed his IIROC licensing examinations as well as the FINRA Series 37 exam.



Paul Tanner

Settlements & Trade Operations Analyst – Americas
Mr. Tanner joined Pavilion Global Markets in September 2017 as a Settlement and Trade Operations Analyst. With a background in supply chain management, Mr. Tanner brings his keen attention to detail and strong work ethic to his role at Pavilion Global Markets. Mr. Tanner works closely with clients to clear firms and ensure the timely settlement. Currently a CFA® Level III candidate, Mr. Tanner received a Bachelor’s of Science double major Physics and Political Science from Bishop’s University.


Taimur Tanoli

Sales & Trading – Americas
Mr. Tanoli provides best execution trading services for our clients in his role as an Institutional Sales Trader. Previously he worked as a Settlements and Trade Operations Analyst before joining the North American trading desk. In addition to trading North American equities, he is responsible for trading throughout North American fixed income markets and has spent time trading in European and Asia Pacific equity markets. With a strong focus on business development he is tasked with seeking out new and maintaining existing business relationships. Mr. Tanoli holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is working towards his CFA® designation.


John Tsagaroulis

Head, International Settlements
Mr. Tsagaroulis joined PGM in 1998 and leads the equity settlement department. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tsagaroulis worked at BMO Nesbitt Burns for 12 years in equity settlements and as a retail sales assistant. Mr. Tsagaroulis has completed his IIROC and FINRA Series 24 and Series 37 licensing examinations.


Michael J. Young

Managing Director, Transition Management U.S
New York, NY
Mr. Young brings over 18 years of experience in the investment and financial services industry to his role at PGM where he works to expand the firm’s transition management services among U.S. plan sponsors, Taft-Hartley plans, endowments, foundations, financial institutions and the investment consultant community. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation of confidence and trust while helping clients manage their transition events through attention to detail and superior client service. Prior to PGM, Mr. Young was with BNY Mellon’s Beta & Transition Management group, serving as the Branch Manager of the New York Registered Investment Advisor. Prior to BNY Mellon, Mr. Young was Head of Sales for JPMorgan’s Transition Management business and held other senior roles within the Corporate and Investment Bank, developing and marketing various investment-related products for institutional clients. Mr. Young is often invited to speak on various public and corporate plan sponsor panels as well as present to client Boards on transition and risk management. Mr. Young holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University, a J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law, and an A.B. in Political Science from Muhlenberg College where he was an Academic All-American. He currently holds his series 3, 7, 30, and 63 licenses.


Michael Zelman

Head of Sales & Trading, Americas
Michael Zelman started his career in Manchester, England in 2000, working on the international dealing desk at TD Securities. From there, he moved to London where he worked as a sales trader at Knight Equity Markets, then moved to TFS Derivatives where he helped set up their cash desk. In 2006, Mr. Zelman joined PGM Global Markets as a senior sales trader on the European team. In 2015, in addition to his role on the European team, he was appointed Head of Sales Trading, North Americas. Mr. Zelman has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Archaeology from McGill University. He has completed his IIROC and FSA licensing examinations as well as the FINRA Series 37 and 24 examinations.
